About Aberystwyth Lacrosse:
Lacrosse is the fastest game on two legs, and there has been no better time to get involved!
Aberystwyth Lacrosse is made up of two teams, but we are one club. As a club, we aim to, not only get people playing, but loving lacrosse. For that reason it doesn't matter if you are playing for the national team or a complete beginner, all are welcome. As Aberystwyth Student Union 'Most Improved Club' in 2015/16, we hope to build on that in the coming year.
Women's Team
Our women's team have done tremendously well over the last season finishing second in the league. Taking part in a number of weekend SWWL tournaments. With a semi final appearance in the ELA tournament in Preston. As well as, winning their varsity match against Bangor. This really is a team aiming high this year.
We are looking to build on last year with the addition of a lot of fresh faces ready to get stuck in and join us in a year that promises to be a great one for our team; competing in BUCS league, SWWL tournaments.
Men's Team
Our men's team has been growing over the last year, in what could be described as the year of the Fresher. With many of them only picking up a stick for the first time this season the results on the pitch, can't do justice to how far they have come in a year. A fact reflected in the fact that 8 players went on to represent Welsh Uni's Team at the British National Championships(BNCs).
Perhaps they were inspired by our very own Welsh National, Luke Hamilton, who himself started lacrosse as an Aberystwyth Fresher.
What this year has shown is we are a team aiming high and looking for new players to join us as we aim for promotion in our BUCS league.
Alumni
Though they have graduated and are gone from Aberystwyth, our alumni still play a massive part in our club. It comes in all shapes and sizes. There is our annual alumni weekend, giving the current team a chance to, not only meet and get advice from some of the legends of the club, but to also test their mettle against them in the current members vs alumni match. There is also the generous financial support provided by our alumni which is so important to the club.
This year we will be aiming to strengthen our ties with our alumni even further.
